Windows 2003 SP1 issues
If you are experiencing problems starting the Vail SIP TIM services ( especially the 'Access Denied' error ) and have previously installed the Windows 2003 SP1 package, the following changes need to be made to your Vail SIP TIM installation:
- Goto: Start->All Programs->Administrative Tools->Component Services
- In the dialog window, goto: Console Root->Component Services->Computers->My Computer->DCOM Config
- On the left pane, select "DCOM Config"
- The right pane will show list of components. Right-click "VailTimCallManager" (and NOT VailTimCall )
- Select "Properties"
- Select "Security" tab
- Under "Launch And Activation Permissions", select the "Customize" radio button
- Add "NETWORK SERVICE" as a user on the local computer, to this list.
- In the bottom window, choose "Allow" for "local launch" and "local activation" options.
- Click "OK" as many times as necessary to close all Component Services windows.
- Stop the VailSIPTIMSoap service
- Start the Telephony Application service, which will also restart all dependent services
Note: To add NETWORK SERVICE, you will have to first choose the local computer as the designated location. If your system presents a dialog window for domain password, you can select "Cancel" which will give you the option to select the local computer name. Here, you can type "NETWORK SERVICE" in the "Enter object name to select" box.
You are now ready to restart the Vail SIP TIM.
