Certification of Vail SIP TIM expands network connectivity options and provides seamless support experience.
SpeechTEK West, San Francisco, CA and Deerfield, IL — February 21, 2005 — Vail Systems, a leading provider of SIP-based IP telephony platform technology, speech application solutions and hosting services today announced Microsoft product certification of its Vail SIP Telephony Interface Manager (TIM) for Microsoft Speech Server 2004. Meeting Microsoft's high standards for call quality, platform stability, and functional coverage, the Vail SIP TIM combines reliable service with greater ease of installation and management.
"Vail's Microsoft certified SIP based Telephony Interface Manager, offers customers the opportunity to seamlessly integrate with their existing Voice Over IP infrastructure," said James Mastan, director of marketing for Microsoft's speech server product group. "Plus having a free 2-port SIP TIM download from Vail, will definitely kick-start developers that need to build an end to end system for integration without having to spend any upfront money".
The Vail SIP TIM enables enterprises to connect Microsoft Speech Server 2004 speech application platform to industry standard SIP-based VoIP telephony networks and to legacy PBX and PSTN networks by using equipment including AudioCodes VoIP SIP Gateway cards and systems. Advanced features include:
  1. ACD-like Call Queuing: Incoming calls that exceed the number of SALT interpreter channels available are queued until a resource becomes free.
  2. Software-based Port Utilization: Calls requiring an outbound transfer do not consume a second licensed telephony port. Scalability is limited only by host CPU capacity, allowing for highly flexible and cost-effective deployment options.
  3. IP Carrier and CTI Integration: Paired with a certified session border controller, the SIP TIM enables enterprises to connect Microsoft Speech Server directly to IP Carrier voice services without the capital or operational expense of VoIP/PSTN gateways.
  4. Integrated Windows Management: TIM settings such as inbound and outbound port allocations, network security, and proxy registrations are easily configured using Windows WMI, MMC snap-ins and XML.
"This certification underscores Vail Systems and Microsoft's commitment to provide highly scalable next generation VoIP telephony solutions to Microsoft Speech Server customers," said James Whiteley, President and CEO of Vail Systems. "With this release of the Vail SIP TIM, we are building on Microsoft's momentum and further driving speech application development into new and exciting areas that VoIP makes possible".
