Vail Network Recording Features & Benefits Overview

Vail's recording service offers a variety of industry-leading benefits which are changing the paradigm for the call-recording industry.

Cost Effective

As a network-based solution, Vail's Network Recording Service does not require expensive capital equipment to be installed at your contact center location(s). Instead, every element of our service is provided as a hosted element on our SIP Platform, incorporated into your carrier services and easily configured from a website.

Ease of Integration

Vail's efficient call-control capabilities and CTI integration enable the Vail Recording Service to be easily brought into and removed from a call for as long as needed. Additionally, Vail has native CTI integration support, with a variety of industry-leading CTI systems providing maximum flexibility and efficiency. And rather than billing by number of recordings made, recording fees are geared to the amount of recording done, making it economical to do more recording within your company and thus guaranteeing a quicker return on your investment.

Carrier-Grade Scale and Availability

Vail's recording service is based on its SIP Platform, and offers N+1 or N+N architectural support, as well as a fault-tolerant design incorporating multiple recording servers and storage devices. In addition, storage is hosted at multiple Vail or customer-collocation facilities, providing multiple backups in case of a power outage or other equipment issue. In the event that a customer storage device is not available or a carrier network problem occurs, Vail provides twenty-four-hour, year-round operational monitoring, and constant alerts from the Vail network operations center.

Reduced Operational Support

As a fully-managed network-based service, the Vail Recording service allows organizations to reduce operational difficulties and save resources by outsourcing the management and support of their complex call-recording equipment. Vail can centrally-record calls destined for multiple sites, while allowing your organization to maintain complete management control of what calls are recorded.

Configurable Encoding Quality

Vail Recording supports a variety of formats, including .wav and MP3, with a large array of bit rate options available. These can be configured on a per-application, per-call, or per-DNIS basis, allowing us to offer the utmost in call-recording flexibility.

Flexible Storage Options

Vail Recording instantly records audio files and, in near real-time, forwards the file to storage for immediate playback. The customer can choose to forward recordings to their own storage, Vail storage, or third-party storage. Standard external delivery options include ftp, e-mail, or customer-side polling.

Network Neutral

The Vail Recording Service's native VoIP capabilities ensure that conferencing end users are able to simultaneously join conference calls, either by using an ordinary public telephone connected to a VoIP gateway, or by a native IP phone support via an IP desk phone or softphone. The standard codec is G.711, but if alternatives are needed, Vail supports both iLBC and plug-in codec architecture for custom deployments.

Rich Call Detail Records

The Vail Recording Service includes pertinent default recording metadata that is stored in Vail's database. The data includes start time; call duration; creation or deletion information for archive- and externally-delivered copies; and application-assigned "keyword" text. Together with other application call detail information, this provides a rich array of searching and reporting capabilities. The system also includes a plug-in architecture that can be used to customize the post-call recordings, and to format and deliver both the recordings and the call-detail data to the destination of the client's choosing.
